Conscious Capitalism : Aspen Valley

We believe that business is good because it creates value, it is ethical because it is based on voluntary exchange, it is noble because it can elevate our existence and it is heroic because it lifts people out of poverty and creates prosperity. Free enterprise capitalism is the most powerful system for social cooperation and human progress ever conceived. It is one of the most compelling ideas we humans have ever had. But we can aspire to even more.

VISION // NUMBERS // FEEDBACK with Candice Olson

A successful entrepreneur hones these 3 inputs to build a great company or non-profit

Many entrepreneurs count on their unique capacity to create and hold a strong vision to persevere through headwinds and setbacks.

Some of the most successful entrepreneurs make their path easier by developing their sense of numbers as a parallel tool for creation--building and refining models that are as powerful and informing as words and pictures, that show us new ways to manifest our vision and make us more fluid in our approach. Less drive and more flow.

Mastery in numbers can take us to a whole new level as entrepreneurs.

Finally, feedback from others in the form of customer research, advice from advisors, friends and investors, can be both the most helpful and the most distracting input.

When do we stand our ground and when do we allow this input to shape our direction?

All of these inputs help us build a cohesive and energized team.

About Candice Olson

Candice Olson

Candice will share stories of working for one of the world's most renown media entrepreneurs, as well as her own experience as the first woman to take a company public in the U.S. Candice has built three successful enterprises at different scales and in different sectors: a pioneering online community, the education of young people globally, and a third designed to enhance local community in Aspen. Candice is the recipient of an Emmy for prime time television, and the Matrix, the highest U.S. peer award in marketing. She built businesses at American Express and Time Warner before heading into 25 years as an entrepreneur, working with Kleiner Perkins and other top venture capital firms. Now she is delighting in creating things with a new generation of leadership in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley. This adds up to lots of mistakes, which she is eager to share so you don't have to repeat. In the non-profit realm, Candice was a founding Board member who over a decade helped build an extensive charter school network serving 1,500 students in multiple neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and an ongoing sports program at a public school for gifted girls in Harlem, that has led to numerous full scholarships to top colleges.
