On Fear

Fear is a pervasive force in each of us. In the midst of this pandemic, there’s a good chance each one of us has stumbled into fearful or anxious thoughts about our health, financial stability, lifestyle resilience, the future of our children. When we collectively operate from fear, it can create disharmonious cultural habits. We obsess, succumb to mindless cravings, tune out, become defensive…

At Lead with Love, we feel compassion for the fear in each of us and encourage our community to observe our fears, inquire deeply and practice healing. We believe that the antidote to fear is love. We see that when we practice gratitude, we no longer fear for scarcity. When we foster connection, we no longer fear for rejection or abandonment. There are many paths to a loving state which can disintegrate fear patterns. We spent a few weeks researching and untangling fear, and it’s our pleasure to present an analysis of fear to you here. We hope you find this information helpful and we invite you to connect with us on our social media platforms for more content and feedback.

Where do you feel fear? What are your triggers?
What’s on the other side?

An Inquiry on Fear. Please Take a Moment to Tune into Yourself.

  1. When was the last time you experienced fear or being afraid?

  2. Were you afraid of the process or the result?

  3. Is the fear based on real evidence or an imagined scenario?

  4. How did you respond during, and after the fear was present? [fight, freeze, faint, flee]

  5. Am I scared that I may make a mistake? Am I allowed to make mistakes?

  6. Is my sense of worth at stake in this moment? If so, why? Can I drop the question of worthiness?

  7. Am I scared or was I told this is scary and so I am adapting another's fear?

  8. Am I scared of being wrong? Is my self worth tied to being right? If so, why? Can I allow myself to be wrong?

  9. Am I scared of feeling a feeling, because the feeling is overwhelming?

  10. Can I allow myself to feel an overwhelming feeling and know that it will pass?

  11. Am I scared of what another person might think of me?

  12. Can you think back to a childhood event that created this fear?

  13. What are you avoiding because you have a fear of it?

  14. What types of topics make you uncomfortable to talk about?

  15. Are you afraid of being rejected? Why? What happened last time you were rejected? Does this come from a deeper fear?

  16. Are you scared of being wrong? Do you feel your self-worth tied to being right? If so, why? Can you allow yourself to be wrong?

Now, take 3 deep breaths.
